BENEFITS: WHAT YOU GET

Riverbed’s benefit and compensation packages are designed to meet the diverse needs of employees and their families, attract and retain the best and create a stimulating and supportive work environment. We offer competitive medical, dental, vision and wellness benefits that give you choices, help you save for the future, and contribute to your overall health. While benefits vary depending on location, our U.S. employees can take advantage of the offerings below.

Financial security takes focus and planning. Whatever your ultimate retirement goals may be, Riverbed’s Savings 401(k) plan can help you reach them. We’ll match 50% up to your first 4% of contributions up to a maximum of $700 per quarter ($2,800 per year).
Your choices have a big impact on your health. Riverbed offers you and your family comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance plans beginning the first day of regular employment, along with wellness initiatives to keep you at your best.
Riverbed provides subsidies on all Medical plans which cover over 91% of plan costs for you and your eligible dependents. Choosing the right medical plan takes careful planning. We offer different medical plans that can work for you, your family and lifestyle. Riverbed’s medical options include Cigna OAP-In Network, Cigna OAP and Kaiser HMO.
Dental costs are nothing to smile about. That’s why we offer employees a choice between the Dental PPO and Dental DHMO by Cigna, as well as orthodontic benefits. The Dental PPO plan allows the freedom to use providers in and out of the network while benefits under the DHMO are available only when using a participating Cigna provider.
Riverbed’s vision benefits are offered through VSP, one of the leading and largest vision care program providers. Our plan includes periodic exams, glasses and contact lenses. We also offer a discounted program for alternative services like laser correction surgery.
All full-time employees receive new-hire equity grants in Riverbed. As part of your onboarding, you are also offered the right to purchase restricted stock and lock in the long-term capital gains tax rate (which is substantially lower). This allows for significant upside on Riverbed stock share value and favorable taxation on equity gains at the time of an IPO or sale of the company.
FSAs can help you save money on things like co-payments and daycare. Riverbed offers health and dependent care flexible spending accounts that allow you to set aside a certain amount of pre-tax earnings, so you can cover eligible expenses and reduce your taxable income.
Income protection helps you plan for the unplanned. Benefits are designed to provide for you and your family when you are unable to work. We offer the following insurance options:
  • Basic and supplemental life
  • Accidental death and dismemberment
  • Short and long term disability
  • State and voluntary disability
  • Workers compensation
Whether for vacations or personal reasons, Riverbed offers the flexibility to use your time as it fits your life. Full-time employees who have worked at Riverbed for one to three years get 10 paid holidays and 15 days of vacation per year. After four years of full-time employment, you get 20 days of vacation per year. Our paid time off includes:
  • Vacation
  • Sick Leave
  • Holidays
  • Voting
  • Jury Duty
  • Military Service
  • Parental Leave
  • Bereavement Leave
Riverbed offers an Employee Assistance Program that can help with confidential support including stress, family counseling, parental and childcare resources.
