Riverbed Names Randy Schirman To Vice President Of Worldwide Channel Sales

Industry Sales and Channel Veteran Tapped to Lead Channel Program

SAN FRANCISCO—October 26, 2010— Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced that it has promoted Randy Schirman to the position of vice president of worldwide channel sales. In this role, Schirman will lead the company’s global channel sales strategy, focusing on accelerating the company’s strong momentum across its entire portfolio of channel communities. Schirman will be responsible for ensuring that the partner ecosystems within the Riverbed channel program flourish, by connecting customers with the right solutions and the right partners—resulting in customers recognizing maximum benefits from Riverbed solutions.

One of Schirman’s primary initiatives will be to expand partners’ revenue growth opportunities by tapping into Riverbed market expansion strategies in WAN optimization, as well as high-growth market segments such as cloud, disaster recovery and virtualization. Schirman will also be focused on continuing to foster a strong, collaborative sales engagement environment between the company and its partners and ensuring that Riverbed continues to deliver a coverage model that optimizes a customer’s ability to acquire and implement Riverbed solutions in a manner that best fits their needs — through either value added resellers, systems integrators or service providers, in either capital expense or operating expense financial models. To further strengthen relationships with multi-national end user markets, Schirman will continue the company’s efforts in building strong partnerships with large national and global partners in the Riverbed Partner Network (RPN)

"This is an exciting time for Riverbed, as we move into broad-scale cloud initiatives and look to expand our reach with multi-national enterprises," said Schirman.  "Continuing to align ourselves with the partners who can meet our customers' needs – either locally or globally—with expertise in the many different solution areas that Riverbed offers will be critical moving forward."

Schirman has been a valued member of the Riverbed leadership team since 2008, when he joined the company as vice president of worldwide service provider sales.  During his tenure, Schirman has led the efforts to build the global service provider and systems integrator businesses for Riverbed, developing strong alliance relationships with industry-leading partners.  This new role will allow Schirman to offer that same level of industry-leading partnership development and management to the entire Riverbed partner ecosystem.

"This well-deserved promotion is a testament to the success Randy has already achieved in the service provider market, and we look forward to Randy leveraging his expertise against the broader channel structure," said Dave Peranich, senior vice present of worldwide sales at Riverbed.  "Randy has been a real asset to the Riverbed leadership team. Since day one he has been laser-focused on optimizing the broader value of partnerships for Riverbed, while also understanding our partners' business models and making a Riverbed partnership a win for them."

Schirman is a seasoned sales veteran with more than 20 years of sales, channel and management experience.  Prior to Riverbed, Schirman was with Citadel Security Software, where he served as vice president of sales and was part of the acquisition by McAfee.  Before Citadel, Schirman spent a number of years with NetScreen Technologies as vice president of service provider sales, where he built the organization from origin through its acquisition by Juniper Networks.
