Transportation
Las Vegas is a compact city with many attractions available in the central area around the Strip and downtown. Transportation options are numerous and varied, from renting a vintage Cadillac Eldorado or new Corvette, to hopping on a city bus, taking a cab or riding the Las Vegas Monorail, one of the most modern transportation systems in the world.
Airport Shuttle
If you're flying into Vegas, the most economical way to get to your hotel is on an airport shuttle. Shuttles gather just outside the terminal in the same area as the taxis. Shuttle service to the Strip or downtown costs less than $10, and buses run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Check with your hotel to arrange the return trip to the airport.
Car Rentals
The average price for renting an economy car in Vegas is around $25 to $30 per day, but the sky's the limit if you want to cruise the Strip in something a little more extravagant. Rates will rise on holiday weekends or when there's a large convention in town.
Taxis
Taxicabs are available on the East side of baggage claim, outside door exits 1-4. Airport personnel are available on the taxi curb to assist passengers. Please note: Most taxis will not accept credit card payments. In addition, there is a $1.80 charge on all fares originating at the airport. The maximum number of passengers allowed in any taxi is five, including infants and children.
Vegas, Baby!
Las Vegas is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nevada, and an internationally renowned major resort city for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and entertainment. Sometimes referred to as “The Entertainment Capital of the World,” Las Vegas is famous for the number of casino resorts and associated entertainment. Established in 1905, Las Vegas officially became a city in 1911. With the growth that followed, at the close of the century Las Vegas was the most populous American city founded in the 20th century (a distinction held by Chicago in the 19th century). The city's tolerance for various forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and this image has made Las Vegas a popular setting for films and television programs. Outdoor lighting displays are everywhere on the Las Vegas Strip and are seen elsewhere in the city as well. As seen from space, the Las Vegas metropolitan area is the brightest city on Earth.
