Law Firm CIO Shares Experience with Wide Area Data Services at Disaster Recovery Journal Fall World 2008

Riverbed Steelhead Appliances Support Initiative to Centralize IT Infrastructure and Ensure Data Protection

San Francisco, CA, September 8, 2008 – Riverbed Technology (Nasdaq: RVBD), the technology and market leader in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced that Ben Weinberger, chief information officer at law firm Lathrop & Gage, will share his experience with Riverbed® WDS at Disaster Recovery Journal’s Fall World 2008, taking place at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, San Diego, Calif., between September 14 – 17, 2008.

As part of his CIO role at one of the largest full service law firms in Florida, Weinberger deployed Riverbed Steelhead® appliances to support an initiative to centralize its IT infrastructure, moving all application servers to a central data center and eliminating them from the remote offices. During his presentation, "New Strategies for Remote Backup, Replication, and Disaster Recovery," Weinberger will provide insight on how the firm improved and streamlined its backup and replication processes to protect it from natural disasters.

What: "New Strategies for Remote Backup, Replication, and Disaster Recovery"

With offices and project teams dispersed across the country and around the globe, IT departments are moving more aggressively to protect data and improve the efficiency of backup and recovery processes. Natural disasters in recent years have prompted a renewed sense of urgency; many firms have experienced the crippling effects of no data access for days or weeks, and painfully slow recovery windows and tape backup over the wide area network. In this session, learn how one of the largest full service law firms in Florida, with 200 attorneys and more than 550 employees in 10 offices throughout Florida and Venezuela, improved and streamlined its backup and replication processes after four hurricanes hit Florida in 2004.
