RIVERBED EXPANDS PRODUCT MANAGEMENT AND CORPORATE MARKETING EXPERTISE

Network Appliance and Secure Computing Veterans Join Riverbed Executive Team

San Francisco, CA — April 10, 2006 — Riverbed Technology, the performance leader in wide-area data services (WDS), announced today the addition of two new executives to its management team. John Martin, a seven-year Network Appliance veteran with over 15 years in developing and marketing new products and services, joined Riverbed as vice president, product management. Steve Miller, a proven marketing expert with over 25 years experience in growing market, product and brand awareness for both Fortune 500 companies and technology start-ups has joined the company as vice president, corporate marketing. In their respective roles, Martin and Miller will work to build on Riverbed's already strong momentum in the wide-area data services (WDS) marketplace. In less than two years of shipping product, Riverbed has grown to over 700 customers and thousands of Steelhead appliances deployed worldwide

John Martin joined Riverbed from Network Appliance where he acted as senior director of product management in the data protection business unit. In that role he oversaw the product management group responsible for SnapMirror, SnapVault, OSSV and Nearstore. Before moving into the data protection business unit, he held a variety of positions at Network Appliance, including responsibility for the NetCache solutions and acting as European CTO for the company's content delivery business. In that role he focused on driving CDN penetration in European telcos, including one of the largest streaming media deployments in the world.

While at Network Appliance, Martin co-invented the ICAP protocol, which is now widely used in Web gateway security solutions and was co-chair of the IETF's Web replication working group. Prior to joining Network Appliance, Martin was CTO at Terena, a non-profit organization located in Amsterdam dedicated to the advancement of networking for research and development in Europe. He also co-founded one of Ireland's first independent Internet service providers and served as a company director for several years. Martin holds a BEng with honors in microelectronics and software engineering from the University of Newcastle, where he also held a position as a research associate.

Steve Miller joined Riverbed from Secure Computing, a leading security firewall, password authentication and web filtering company, where he spent over two years as vice president of worldwide marketing. He is a 25 year high tech industry veteran with senior and executive marketing and business development roles at Sprint, Apple, Oracle and Siebel Systems, including start-ups in consumer and enterprise technology, variously overseeing strategic and marketing operations in the US, EMEA, Japan and Asia Pacific. Prior to that he worked in international investment banking at Bank of America in London and as a consultant at the Paris-based Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
