RIVERBED APPOINTS CISCO VETERAN AS VP EMEA

Marcus Chambers Leaves Cisco to Drive Continued Growth in Riverbed's EMEA Market

San Francisco — November 8, 2005 — Riverbed Technology, the performance leader in application acceleration on wide area networks, announced today that it has appointed Marcus Chambers as vice president, EMEA. Chambers will drive growth across the EMEA region as Riverbed® continues to expand its global operations and builds on its already strong success in the wide-area data services (WDS) market.

"Marcus will play a vital role in driving Riverbed's expansion in EMEA," said Jerry Kennelly, CEO and president of Riverbed Technology. "His many years of experience in the storage and networking area and strong relationships with enterprises, service providers and channel partners throughout EMEA will help ensure that Riverbed achieves its ambitious goals for the region."

Chambers has more than 18 years of experience in the IT industry, and comes to Riverbed with a proven track record of providing storage and networking solutions to the enterprise and service provider markets. He was previously the operations director for Cisco Systems EMEA's Storage, Optical and Wide Area File Services (WAFS) Group, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and channels to grow the SAN storage, optical and WAFS business across EMEA. Prior to joining Cisco in 2003, Chambers was European Northern regional director for Brocade. He also developed 3COM's business in Switzerland as general manager, and prior to this he held positions with Digital Equipment Corporation.

"Riverbed's WDS solutions offer customers the highest level of performance improvements for the broadest range of applications and services available today," said Marcus Chambers, vice president, Riverbed EMEA. "Riverbed's reputation and strong success in the enterprise market has been built on the strength of its products, and will help drive growth substantially in the EMEA market space."

Riverbed's Steelhead® appliance is the only WDS product on the market that solves all the key problems with application performance on wide area networks (WANs). These problems have been or are currently experienced by virtually every multi-site company in the world. Steelhead appliances deliver the industry's best performance acceleration over the broadest set of applications that go over Wide Area Networks.

About Riverbed

Riverbed Technology is the pioneer in wide-area data services (WDS), a fast-growing product category that solves the problems of high latency and low bandwidth that plague a wide variety of applications over distributed networks. Riverbed's Steelhead appliances provide the highest level of performance across the broadest range of applications over WANs, accelerating applications by up to 100 times, and reducing WAN traffic by up to 95%. By providing optimisations that are orders of magnitude greater than what users experience today, Riverbed is changing the way people work and enabling, for the first time, a distributed workforce that can collaborate as if they were local. The Wall Street Journal has named Riverbed the winner of its 2005 Technology Innovation Award in the Network/Broadband/Internet category. In addition, InfoWorld named Steelhead a "Technology of the Year" for 2005 as the "Best WAN Accelerator." Riverbed's award-winning solutions are available worldwide from resellers who are members of the Riverbed Partner Network, Riverbed OEM partners, or directly from Riverbed. Riverbed has received funding from Accel Partners, Goldman Sachs, Lightspeed Venture Partners and UV Partners.
