Summary

CONSOL Energy is the largest producer of high-Btu bituminous coal in the United States. Founded in 1864, the company has evolved from a single-fuel mining company into a multi-energy producer of both coal and gas.

CONSOL operates a large MPLS network that encompasses 80 remote sites across six states in the eastern United States. The company wanted to provide excellent network-based application performance at all of its sites while keeping WAN costs as low as possible.

In order to accelerate its network to optimize application performance, CONSOL chose Riverbed solutions. By offering technology that is easy to deploy, Riverbed allowed the company to upgrade its network rapidly without any outages or downtime.
