Summary

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, a leading international law firm with more than 2,400 lawyers across the world, serves both national and multinational companies, financial institutions and governments. Ensuring that everyone in the 28 offices around the world can collaborate effectively and efficiently is critical. While attempting to roll out a number of new applications, the IT team realized the WAN was reaching full capacity. They were also experiencing performance issues due to latency.

After a successful evaluation of the Riverbed® Steelhead appliance on two systems, Freshfields decided to roll out the appliances at every office worldwide. In order to complete the entire installation in three months Riverbed configured the Steelhead appliances to Freshfields’ specifications before shipping. Freshfields also deployed a Riverbed Central Management Console (CMC) that enabled IT administrators to manage all the appliances from one screen. With the installation, the transfer time for a 2MB file went from 210 seconds to 3 seconds. There was also a noticeable improvement in the performance of applications.
