Summary

After years of organic growth and acquisition, Willis Group Holdings' distributed IT network supported multiple data centers, overlapping applications, and duplicated IT environments, straining resources and hurting performance. In order to ensure all its brokers had immediate access to information no matter where they were in the world, Willis turned to Riverbed.

Willis installed more than 100 Steelhead appliances and two Interceptors. By optimizing up to 1 million connections simultaneously, each Interceptor enabled large numbers of Steelhead appliances to work in parallel, resulting in even greater power, flexibility, and scalability. Willis experienced LAN-like speed over the WAN, reduced peak data 82 percent, and increased capacity 4.2 times, without any major changes to its existing network.
