Riverbed Wins Bronze Honors in Storage Magazine's 2006 Storage Products of the Year Awards

Steelhead Appliances Recognized in Network Equipment Category

San Francisco, CA — March 1, 2007 — Riverbed Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: RVBD), the performance leader in wide-area data services (WDS), announced today that the editors of Tech Target's Storage Media Group have awarded its Steelhead® appliances Bronze honors in the network equipment category in their prestigious Storage Products of the Year awards. The Storage magazine-SearchStorage.com editorial staff, in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts, and consultants, selected the "Products of the Year" from among enterprise storage-related products introduced, upgraded, and shipped between October 27, 2005 and November 3, 2006.

Riverbed's Steelhead appliances were selected based on six key criteria: ease of integration, functionality, innovation, manageability, performance and value, and as a top-scoring product was also evaluated on practicality and importance. The editors noted that "Riverbed Steelhead appliances, along with their upgraded operating system RIOS 3.0, do a lot of network magic to eliminate or drastically reduce network issues." "Winning this Storage magazine-SearchStorage.com award highlights how important WDS is in the storage market," said Eric Wolford, senior vice president, marketing and business development, at Riverbed. "IT is centralizing data storage due to security, economic and compliance pressures, and it relies on the WAN for data transfer and disaster recovery. Steelhead appliances let enterprises accelerate their disaster recovery and remote replication solutions, dramatically improving their data transfer rate. We give enterprises the optimization solutions they need to cost-effectively handle disaster recovery and minimize the amount of data lost during a disaster."
