RIVERBED ADDS TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND WORLDWIDE SALES ENGINEERING EXECUTIVES

Strong Backgrounds in Customer Service, Technical Support and Building Networks add Depth to Management Team

San Francisco, CA — May 25, 2006 — Riverbed Technology, Inc. announced today the addition of two senior executives to its management team. Scott Downie joins as vice president, support. Ken McDonald joins as vice president, worldwide sales engineering. The addition of Downie and McDonald allows Riverbed to continue to deliver to prospects, customers and partners the 24x7 technical advice and global support needed to successfully deploy and manage their Steelhead® appliance deployments.

Scott Downie comes to Riverbed with more than 25 years of experience in managing and growing technical support and customer service organizations. Prior to joining Riverbed, Downie was with Intransa, Inc., where he was vice president of client advocacy. In that role, he managed European sales, global customer service, the technical marketing and solutions group, systems engineering, training, and IT, with centers in California, China and India. Downie also spent several years with Luminous Networks, Inc., where he was president, customer service. In that role, he built the customer service organization from the ground up, to support the RBOC, ILEC, IXC, CLEC and MSO markets, and established a global logistics operation for same-day delivery of replacement parts. Downie held similar roles with Netformx, Network Equipment Technologies and General DataComm. Downie holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Napier University, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Ken McDonald brings to Riverbed more than 20 years of experience designing, building and operating large-scale networks, as well as many years of building and running high-performance technical support organizations. Prior to joining Riverbed, McDonald was with Symbol Technologies, where he was director of technical operations for the Americas sales and service organization. In this role, McDonald was responsible for customer satisfaction, staffing, training and development, partner development, product requirements and customer support. Prior to Symbol, Ken worked for Cisco Systems for 10 years and held numerous senior leadership positions within the US systems engineering team in the service provider, enterprise and federal market segments. McDonald also worked for Data General where he built and managed their worldwide corporate network, as well as a public frame relay network in Canada. Other work experience includes Motorola Corporation, as well as several startups. Ken received a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
