RIVERBED TECHNOLOGY EXPANDS ASIA PACIFIC OPERATIONS WITH OFFICES IN AUSTRALIA AND INDIA

Sales and Support Teams in Place to Meet Strong Customer Demand; WAN Performance Seminar Series Held in Conjunction with Launch

San Francisco — October 18, 2005 — Riverbed Technology, the performance leader in application acceleration on wide area networks, today announced the further expansion of Riverbed® worldwide with the opening of offices in Australia and India. Riverbed’s expansion into these regions is a response to strong customer and partner demand, as organizations recognize the importance of optimizing wide area network (WAN) performance for a broad range of applications and services, including IT consolidation, backup and disaster recovery, and application acceleration.

“Riverbed customer demand is driven by organizations with distributed workforces,” said Jerry Kennelly, CEO and president of Riverbed Technology. “We’ve seen tremendous need for Riverbed’s unique product capabilities in both Australia and India. The opening of offices in Sydney and Bangalore enables Riverbed to respond more rapidly to this demand and gives us the ability to provide local support. We are very pleased with the welcome we have received and are looking forward to growing our success in the region.”

As part of the launch of operations in these regions, Riverbed will be conducting a field seminar series, with sessions to be held in various locations in each country. Seminar attendees will learn how Riverbed’s wide-area data services (WDS) solutions can boost application performance for all applications and improve remote office productivity, while exploring how network architects use Riverbed to centralize IT infrastructure. Seminars will be conducted in Australia October 18, 20 and 21 and in India October 25, 27 and 28. For more information or to attend a Riverbed seminar, please visit http://www.riverbed.com/events.

Riverbed’s Steelhead appliance is the only WDS product on the market that solves all the key problems with application performance on wide area networks (WANs). These problems have been or are currently experienced by virtually every multi-site company in the world. The company’s Steelhead® appliances deliver the industry’s best network compression, optimize the behavior of TCP, and add application-specific optimizations to minimize the effect of high latency on common enterprise applications.

About Riverbed Technology

Riverbed Technology is the pioneer in wide-area data services (WDS), a fast-growing product category that solves the problems of high latency and low bandwidth that plague a wide variety of applications over distributed networks. Riverbed’s Steelhead appliances provide the highest level of performance across the broadest range of applications over WANs, accelerating applications by up to 100 times, and reducing WAN traffic by up to 95%. By providing optimizations that are orders of magnitude greater than what users experience today, Riverbed is changing the way people work – and enabling, for the first time, a distributed workforce that can collaborate as if they were local. InfoWorld named Steelhead a “Technology of the Year” for 2005 as the “Best WAN Accelerator.” Riverbed’s award-winning solutions are available worldwide from resellers who are members of the Riverbed Partner Network, Riverbed OEM partners, or directly from Riverbed. Riverbed has received funding from Accel Partners, Goldman Sachs, Lightspeed Venture Partners and UV Partners.
