RIVERBED EXPANDS OPERATIONS TO KOREA

Cisco Veteran Appointed as Regional Manager

San Francisco — November 9, 2005 — Riverbed Technology, the performance leader in application acceleration on wide area networks, today announced the launch of operations in Korea. The opening of this office further establishes Riverbed's strong presence in Asia Pacific, which also includes regional headquarters in Singapore and operations in Australia, India, China and Japan. Riverbed's continued expansion in the Asia Pacific region is driven by strong customer and partner demand, as organizations recognise the importance of optimizing wide area network (WAN) performance for a broad range of applications and services, including IT consolidation, backup and disaster recovery, and application acceleration.

"Korea is one of the most fast-moving markets in the world," said Jerry Kennelly, CEO and president of Riverbed®. "Riverbed's first global customer win was a Korean manufacturer that purchased Riverbed's Steelhead appliances in 2004. Today, Korean companies have deployed Steelhead appliances on every continent except Antarctica. We are very pleased at the reception we have received in Korea and are looking forward to continued growth in this market. The opening of offices in Seoul will enable us to respond more rapidly to this demand and gives us the ability to provide expanded local support."

To lead the company in the Korean market, Riverbed has appointed Jay Kim as regional manager. In his new role, Kim will be responsible for building channel partnerships and growing Riverbed's wide-area data services (WDS) market.

"Korean companies often have a regional and global reach, making Riverbed's Steelhead appliances a great asset for these organizations," said Jay Kim. "Riverbed has enjoyed strong success in the Korean market to date and expects this demand to grow as we establish a stronger presence and build additional channel relationships in this dynamic and fast-growing center of global commerce."

Prior to joining Riverbed, Kim spent nearly ten years in marketing and as a networking engineer with global companies including Arrowpoint, Cisco, LG Information and Communications. Ltd., and Samsung Electronics. In his latest role with Cisco, Kim was responsible for recruiting channel partners and developing the Korean market for content networking products. In addition, Kim worked extensively in building the CDN market in Korea and was the technical leader behind Korea's Education Broadcasting System (EBS) country-wide e-learning solution for the Korea Ministry of Education (MOE).

Riverbed's Steelhead® appliances are the only WDS products on the market that solve all the key problems with application performance on wide area networks (WANs). These problems have been or are currently experienced by virtually every multi-site company in the world. Steelhead appliances deliver the industry's best network compression, optimise the behaviour of TCP, and add application-specific optimisations to minimise the effect of high latency on common enterprise applications.

About Riverbed Technology

Riverbed Technology is the pioneer in wide-area data services (WDS), a fast-growing product category that solves the problems of high latency and low bandwidth that plague a wide variety of applications over distributed networks. Riverbed's Steelhead appliances provide the highest level of performance across the broadest range of applications over WANs, accelerating applications by up to 100 times, and reducing WAN traffic by up to 95%. By providing optimisations that are orders of magnitude greater than what users experience today, Riverbed is changing the way people work and enabling, for the first time, a distributed workforce that can collaborate as if they were local. The Wall Street Journal has named Riverbed the winner of its 2005 Technology Innovation Award in the Network/Broadband/Internet category. In addition, InfoWorld named Steelhead a "Technology of the Year" for 2005 as the "Best WAN Accelerator." Riverbed's award-winning solutions are available worldwide from resellers who are members of the Riverbed Partner Network, Riverbed OEM partners, or directly from Riverbed. Riverbed has received funding from Accel Partners, Goldman Sachs, Lightspeed Venture Partners and UV Partners.
