Summary
BankWest wanted to expand geographically, but its IT infrastructure couldn't support the load without dramatically increasing costs or sacrificing performance. BankWest deployed a range of Steelhead appliances from Riverbed at more than 200 sites across Australia. The scalability of the Steelhead appliances and their ability to meet internal requirements was a key factor in the company’s decision to select Riverbed.
With Steelhead appliances from Riverbed, BankWest was able to deliver LAN-like application performance to its east coast branches and west coast data centers. At the same time, BankWest reduced telecommunications costs. Overall benefits also include improved application performance, reduced WAN traffic, and increased network visibility.
