Biesse
Manufacturing company wanted to standardize its IT infrastructure across its entire group and introduce standard policies and operating practices. As part of this program the company began to centralize its core applications to its data centre. However bandwidth and latency issues resulted in poor application performance over the WAN. By deploying the Riverbed WAN optimization solution and Riverbed Services Platform (RSP) application performance has improved and employees can now collaborate in real-time.

Summary
Following a program to consolidate Microsoft and Oracle applications to a central data center, Biesse’s employees began to experience difficulties in accessing the information they needed to perform daily business activities. Biesse opted to implement a WAN optimization solution as increasing bandwidth would have been costly and would not have overcome the issue of file latency. Biesse also implemented RSP running Windows 2008 for DNS, DHCP, Active Directory and print servers, enabling Biesse to deploy edge services to branch office locations without having to maintain full-blown servers.
