Summary

ExactTarget is a software-as-a-service company that specializes in one-to-one marketing using email, social media, and mobile devices. With over 8,000 customers that send more than 7 billion emails each month, the company needed to migrate a large amount of data between its data centers. With its existing network configuration, that migration was slated to take an unacceptable two weeks.

ExactTarget chose Riverbed® Steelhead® appliances based on their 1 GB of bandwidth and datastore capabilities, their ease of management and implementation, and because of the Riverbed central management console, which simplifies the process of deploying, configuring, and managing Steelhead appliances. Results included an immediate bandwidth utilization improvement from 10 percent to 100 percent, which translated to a 96 percent increase in file transfer speeds.
