Summary

JEO was facing extraordinary challenges collaborating and sharing information over the WAN. CAD documents, which could be 100 megabytes or more in size, would take too long to send from one office to another. The situation was further complicated as their workforce became more mobile. Trying to download a set of project files from home could take an engineer more than 60 minutes. To compensate, they would often burn a CD at the office, which increased the risk that staff could be working on different versions of a file.

JEO needed a solution that would enable LAN-like application access and file sharing no matter where employees were. Riverbed Steelhead appliances and Steelhead Mobile provided that solution. Now employees in all of JEO’s branch offices can share data as if they were in the same place. Warm transfers among offices now take a matter of seconds, instead of the half an hour it took before.
