About 80 of Parsons' locations are domestic, and many have no infrastructure to tie into. Some locations are on an MPLS network, while others, such as Indonesia and Iraq, use high latency satellite connections. These unique IT setups required a new technology to accelerate key applications and reduce backup time.
Parsons deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances, and within just a couple of days employees were able to share files they previously were unable to. Also, prior to Steelhead installation, it took 10 hours to complete a backup: after Steelhead the time was reduced to under 1.5 hours. For Parsons, Steelhead Applications produced capital savings, as well as operational savings from all of the time spent monitoring, managing, and maintaining remote IT.
