AWS re:Invent 2016, 5 Riverbed Takeaways and 25,000+ Cloud Heroes
AWS re:Invent 2016 was a dense event. It certainly felt like the Amazon forest and navigating through it seemed challenging at times. As thick as the crowds were at the event, AWS also got a little denser. Just last week, AWS announced 50+ new services. At AWS re:Invent, Riverbed was a gold sponsor that guided our fellow Amazon expedition travelers through this thick cloud technology forest demonstrating how our solutions can transform them into cloud heroes of their IT jungle.
The solution sets Riverbed focused on this year at the re:Invent conference focused on cloud monitoring, hybrid clouds and the Internet of Things (IoT). Riverbed slashed and hacked away in the center of the re:Invent jungle during the entire expo, breaking through the foliage to unearth transformational solutions for our audience. After the AWS journey was over, Riverbed had 5 key takeaways from the show.
1) Riverbed and Verizon partner to bundle solutions within AWS
We started off the week by announcing Riverbed Hybrid SDN/NFV Architecture over Verizon Secure Cloud Interconnect
This AWS Direct Connect Bundle combines Riverbed’s industry-leading SteelHead WAN optimization solution, Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect and Virtual Network Services solutions, and AWS’ Direct Connect solution.
With this new solution set, enterprises will be able to balance agility, performance, cost, and security necessitated by the growth of mobile-to-cloud applications and IoT.
2) Riverbed’s SD-WAN offering, SteelConnect, got lots of attention and applause
SteelConnect is the industry’s first and only product to unify network connectivity and orchestration of application delivery across hybrid WANs, cloud networks and branch LAN/WLANs with centralized policy-based management, dynamic software-defined routing and single-click cloud deployment.
By the way, did you see this amazing integration between Amazon Echo and Riverbed’s SteelConnect done by a Riverbed engineer?
3) SteelCentral, a no-brainer for DevOps and Cloud architects:
The re:Invent DevOps audience found the SteelCentral solution a great way to gain complete visibility into their environments and AWS implementations. AWS attendees were simply blown away by what SteelCentral could do.
Riverbed’s SteelCentral solution provides full-stack application, network and infrastructure visibility and diagnosis across the hybrid cloud, along with insights on the resulting end-user experience. With this capability, DevOps teams can see the effect of code, SQL, network or system changes within minutes, and isolate root cause for quick troubleshooting and resolution.

4) Software-defined Edge for AWS:
For those attending looking for a way to do more with AWS storage and their hybrid cloud, SteelFusion solution provides a means to securely manage connected branches. By integrating with AWS, Riverbed’s SteelFusion provides the flexibility to store data in an on-prem datacenter as well as in the AWS cloud.

5) Decade-long industry leadership in WAN Optimization:
The Riverbed SteelHead solution is the best WAN optimization option on the market. It was great to have re:Inventers come by and say, ‘your WAN-OP product is amazing, tell me more about it.”
Built for public cloud environments, SteelHead CX for Cloud extends Riverbed’s #1 optimization solution for hybrid enterprises to Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds. The solution helps ensure application performance SLAs are met for users no matter where they are located, regardless of network latency and enterprise bandwidth limitations.
Having traversed the AWS re:Invent 2016 jungle, it’s now time to blaze a trail into your own IT Jungle. Riverbed has solutions to help make that journey a successful one. With Riverbed helping to guide the way, you’ll be the cloud hero of your IT jungle soon enough.
