In October 2016, Bob Dylan became the first musician to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. For Mr. Dylan, this honor was in the making for over 50 years and 1963 was the commemorative year.
In 1963, much of the U.S. news was very reminiscent of what we see in today’s headlines: Civil rights issues and the looming threat of war. Bob Dylan recorded his immortal ‘The Times They Are A-Changin’,’ and indeed they were, both politically and in retrospect, technologically too. Over the last 50 years, we have seen such major milestones in technology as the personal computer and smartphone. Both of these utilize the Internet, what was then a little-known 1960s U.S. defense force project.
