Riverbed Customers Making Waves: GHD’s Elizabeth Harper Named to Australia’s CIO50 List

GHD CIO Elizabeth Harper has been recognized for achievements in innovation and influencing rapid transformation across the organization.

I’m thrilled to share that Elizabeth Harper, the Chief Information Officer for one of our most valued customers, GHD, has been recognized by leading IT industry news outlet CIO Australia as one of Australia’s most innovative and effective CIOs.

The awards were announced at an industry event held in Sydney, which also acknowledge the achievements of other technology leaders who have influenced rapid change across their organisations. You can see the full list of winners, including Elizabeth, here.

I’d like to personally congratulate Elizabeth on this richly deserved award. She exemplifies what it means to be a true leader—innovative, inspirational and practical—and has played a pivotal role in steering her company through significant structural and cultural challenges, including a recent merger that brought 3,000 new people—along with their ICT and network requirements!—into GHD.

This change also brought with it the daunting task of integrating 50 small outlying offices into the GHD network—something the company chose to achieve using Riverbed’s SD-WAN solution, SteelConnect. This innovative, software-defined approach to remote site network management has already resulted in telecommunications costs at those sites becoming almost insignificant, with more benefits on the way.

GHD’s network transformation is just part of the story though—Elizabeth’s has achieved this major change by placing relationships and people at the heart of her business decision-making. Along with her obvious technological acumen, Elizabeth champions GHD’s targets on diversity in her own IT team and across the organisation.

Three of Elizabeth’s nine direct reports are women, and she also mentors several women outside work, on her own time. She is a Member of the Board of the Queensland executive of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), a role which sees her promote STEM careers for young people.

Riverbed is proud to have GHD as a customer, and delighted to recognise Elizabeth Harper’s personal achievement as a truly innovative tech leader!
