SAN FRANCISCO—April 03, 2012— CareCore provides patient healthcare information to its employees, including 1,200 call center agents and physicians through its daily medical reviews application, which is centralized in its private cloud environment. As these reviews are accessed, ensuring ease-of-use and access at anytime is vital. To meet these demands, CareCore takes a unique approach to developing and delivering applications, which requires a flexible and fast IT environment. CareCore moved to a fully-virtualized IT environment to gain the flexibility needed for developing and supporting its more than 500 workload applications. However, its legacy appliance-based ADCs and load balancers did not have the throughput, capacity or flexibility to distribute the computing power needed for the production, integration and testing of applications in a virtualized environment.
After considering several vendors to support and optimize applications in a virtualized environment, CareCore learned that many had limited offerings that did not provide the needed flexibility, which would result in a generic approach to CareCore’s customer service. With Riverbed virtual ADC, CareCore found the ideal combination to support a quick and flexible transition to a virtualized IT environment that allows for efficient development and delivery of applications while enabling a personalized approach to customer service.
“We’re growing and moving more of our information to the cloud, and Riverbed has been the perfect solution provider to help us ensure our Web offerings are optimized and accessible to provide patients with the right treatment or test based on their unique medical histories,” said William Moore, executive vice president and chief technology officer, CareCore National. “Riverbed’s virtual ADC is the only solution we could deploy in a fully-virtualized IT environment to meet our application development, traffic management and load balancing needs. Bottom line, we found that physical appliances do not work well in a virtualized environment.”
The Riverbed ADC solution is the Stingray™ Traffic Manager, a high-performance virtual ADC, which provides flexibility, load balancing, and a single point of management for accelerating enterprise applications hosted on servers. It is part of the Riverbed Stingray product family, which also includes Stingray Aptimizer, the leading Web content optimization (WCO) solution, and Stingray Web Application Firewall. The Stingray product family is based on technologies acquired from Zeus Technology and Aptimize Limited in July 2011.
More than 17,000 organizations worldwide depend on Riverbed to understand, optimize and consolidate their IT infrastructure, through solutions that overcome performance issues caused by distance, distributed computing, and ever increasing amounts of data. As IT organizations embark on strategic initiatives to virtualize, consolidate and migrate workloads into cloud environments, users are moved farther from their data, and slow applications, file transfers and inefficient websites negatively impact the performance of these initiatives. Riverbed transforms IT performance by providing solutions spanning WAN optimization, application-aware network performance management (NPM), application delivery, web content optimization (WCO), and cloud data protection for backup, archive and disaster recovery. By providing the broadest portfolio of performance solutions that deliver anywhere, any application optimization, Riverbed enables organizations to increase productivity and efficiency, while enhancing business resilience and controlling costs.
