San Francisco—January 28, 2016— Riverbed Technology, the leader in application performance infrastructure, today announced that Subbu Iyer has joined the company as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer reporting to Jerry M. Kennelly, Chairman and CEO. Iyer will focus on improving Riverbed's market position in existing and new markets, streamlining Riverbed's go-to-market approach, and increasing the relevance and recognition of the Riverbed brand in a time of rampant IT evolution as businesses go through a digital transformation and turn to next generation, software-defined networks. His responsibilities span corporate marketing and communications, web/digital marketing, strategic and solutions marketing, channel marketing, demand generation and campaigns, and global field marketing.
"Subbu is the right marketing leader for Riverbed's next phase of growth," said Jerry M. Kennelly, Riverbed Chairman and CEO. "Since going private, we have seen three quarters of sequential growth, exceeded targets, and tremendous market momentum. Subbu is an expert at understanding market dynamics, analyzing the competitive landscape and skillfully positioning solutions in such a rapidly changing industry to customers, partners and other key stakeholders. We expect his contributions to be immediate and impactful, as we help our customers transform their networks and application performance infrastructure."
"Riverbed is at the center of what's going on in the industry, including hybrid and software-defined networking, SD-WAN, cloud and mobile applications, big data, and application and network visibility - far more than most people realize," said Subbu Iyer, Riverbed CMO. "Riverbed makes the promise of technology come true for people because they make things work better - applications, websites, networks, data centers, branch and remote offices. Best of all, Riverbed today is like a billion-dollar start-up, and on the upward path with a lot of momentum. I'm thrilled to join such a storied company, talented team and global technology and innovation leader."
Iyer brings experience and leadership in global and product marketing, together with experience running a business with P&L responsibilities. He joins Riverbed from EMC, where he was Senior Vice President of Global Product Marketing and focused on storage, converged infrastructure, big data and hybrid cloud solutions.
Previously, he spent five years at HP Software in a variety of roles, including as a leader in HP's Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Business where he oversaw products, go-to-market and operations for a $1B software business. Before HP, he was CMO at OpenClovis (open source high availability and system management), and also held management positions at Oracle, VERITAS Software, and several startups in the software industry.
Iyer holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
