Riverbed Employees Volunteer with Hands and Hearts in REACH OUT Week


Every community has people in need. This November, all over the planet, Riverbed employees helped meet those needs, enthusiastically volunteering more than 2,000 hours of service in 21 cities, at more than 30 charities. They're taking the spirit of our company out into the community to help others.

In service to others

Riverbed makes this work possible by giving our employees the opportunity to volunteer and give back in every location where we operate. It's all part of Riverbed REACH OUT (Riverbed Employees Assisting Community and Helping OUT), which has a mission to mobilize employee volunteers in our local communities and provide charitable donations to organizations that fight poverty, provide natural disaster relief, and help disadvantaged youth.​

This was our third annual REACH OUT Week, and our volunteers lent a hand in nursing homes, homeless shelters, food banks, soup kitchens, Boys and Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity work sites, parks, and other community organizations. We aimed to help every type of charity that can make a difference in our cities and towns.

Riverbed REACH OUT Week 2018 included volunteer projects in the following cities:

U.S.:  San Francisco, Sunnyvale/San Jose, Thousand Oaks, CA; Bethesda, MD; Nashua, NH; New York City; Boston/Cambridge, MA; Champaign, IL; Reston, VA; Durham, NC; and Austin, TX

Tech should be for everyone

As part of REACH OUT Week, Riverbed also donated approximately 100 laptops to RRRcomputer.org. "We encourage corporations and individuals to donate rather than recycle their computers," said Hue Mach, the organization's founder. "We then refurbish them to give to low-income kids for education and after-school programs. I am very excited Riverbed is participating in this program and helping to make a positive difference for kids and schools."

"In order to be a great company, we have to be a great company at giving back," says Therese Sollars, Director, Internal Communications at Riverbed and global REACH OUT leader. "This is our chance to take what we are, which is very fortunate, and give it back to people that are less fortunate than us. It's something we are all very proud of."
