SAN FRANCISCO – April 25, 2017 – Riverbed Technology will showcase its revolutionary SD-WAN and cloud networking solution, SteelConnect, at the ONUG Spring 2017 conference in San Francisco on April 25-26. Following last week’s definitive agreement to acquire leading Wi-Fi provider Xirrus, Riverbed will integrate into SteelConnect a robust suite of advanced, high-density, cloud-managed Wi-Fi solutions, offering Riverbed customers and partners an unmatched SD-WAN solution with unified connectivity and policy-based orchestration spanning the entire distributed network – WAN, LAN/WLAN, data center and the cloud.
In addition to SteelConnect demos, during the conference Riverbed will team up with Orange Business Services for a fireside chat to explore Orange’s plans to offer SteelConnect as part of its hybrid network offering. The new offering will enable Orange customers to simplify the management of their hybrid networks and optimize the performance of both corporate and cloud applications.

Digital transformation, and the move to the cloud is driving disruption across all industries at a rapid pace. Legacy, hardware-based approaches to networking have become inefficient and error-prone and are requiring businesses to deploy a fundamental rethink to their approach to networking. To address these challenges, Riverbed is delivering solutions to help businesses transition from legacy hardware to a new software-defined and cloud-centric networking approach based on global policies, automation and orchestration.
Initially launched in April 2016, Riverbed SteelConnect is the first and only SD-WAN solution to unify management and policy-based orchestration spanning the entire network – LAN/WLAN, WAN, data center and the cloud. Riverbed SteelConnect is a highly differentiated SD-WAN solution offering: unparalleled simplicity and improved agility with centralized and unified management spanning the entire network fabric with policy-based orchestration and one-click connectivity to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure; superior performance with integrated WAN optimization and visibility; network and application intelligence with business intent-based policies and user experience driven control.
This year, SteelConnect continues to gain significant momentum in the market. In early 2017, Riverbed added “one-click” secure connectivity to Microsoft Azure, integration with the market-leading WAN Optimization solution (Riverbed SteelHead SD), and a new offering for large-scale data center deployments. In March, Riverbed announced that Orange Business Services will leverage SteelConnect to deliver an SD-WAN managed service to their customers. With the recent announcement of the definitive agreement to acquire Xirrus, SteelConnect will extend the power of policy-based management to broader reaches of distributed networks, out to the wireless edge. Today, Riverbed has more than 300 SD-WAN customers across a wide range of industries globally, including retail, manufacturing, healthcare, professional services, finance, technology, and many more.

The SD-WAN revolution is well underway in response to evolving needs of enterprises wanting to connect their offices and mobile workers to applications in the cloud. Service providers are key catalyzers of that revolution by embracing a network-as-a-service paradigm, which allows them to quickly roll out and scale even highly customized connectivity offerings. In March, Orange Business Services announced it is integrating Riverbed’s SD-WAN solution, SteelConnect into its hybrid network offering. In this session, attendees will learn what SD-WAN-based services Orange is planning to launch in the coming months and what role Riverbed’s SteelConnect plays in that strategy.
