High-speed packet analysis to find problems fast
With an extensive number of network analysis views you’ll easily drill down and discover the root cause of any issue. What once took hours to find and understand can be revealed in just minutes.
Analyze multi terabyte files quickly
Our most popular feature is the ability to quickly filter on and drill-down into data elements of charted, visual displays to reveal and isolate network and application anomalies. You also can easily merge multiple trace files sequentially to pinpoint exactly where problems are occurring.
Professional reporting that everyone can understand
Create easy to interpret reports directly from hundreds of of pre-defined View metrics or customize your own Views within Cascade Pilot. Retrospectively move forward and backward in time to reveal the behavior of local and remote network traffic.
Troubleshoot that which you cannot see
Microbursts are the hidden landmine that can saturate a gigabit network and cause a lot of end user pain. Fortunately, with Pilot, you can zoom into a one-millisecond view of the network andidentify the utilization spikes that these blink-of-an-eye events cause. Cascade Pilot delivers high-level views of all traffic, and gives you the ability to drill down with Wireshark for a final analysis when necessary. The tight integration of Pilot and Wireshark makes this easy.
Analyze all types of data on your network – including VDI
Cascade Pilot software provides transaction-level analysis of HTTP, VoIP, FIX, CIFS, MSSQL, and MYSQL transactions as well as VDI monitoring of VMware View (PCoIP), Citrix XenDesktop (ICA) and XenApp (ICA). Multi-segment and sequence diagram analysis are also standard issue with Cascade Pilot.

AireSpring finds and fixes customer issues in minutes
Speeding in heavy traffic
By increasing the speed with which data and RTP packets are captured, AireSpring technicians can locate and analyze both sets of packets associated with a particular voice network call. Now, instead of the half hour or more it used to take, technicians can pull the data they need in minutes.
More than 9,000 concurrent voice sessions monitored
Eight of AireSpring's 15 technicians can work simultaneously on trouble tickets – accessing network diagnostics and troubleshooting – while more than 9,000 concurrent voice sessions are being monitored.
Tiburon identifies email application upgrade issues and stops the fingerpointing
Email is a daily form of life for most everyone these days. So when a planned upgrade did not go well and hundreds of users were experiencing disconnects while typing a message, the problem was front and center for Tiburon’s government client.
“By integrating end-to-end monitoring with deep packet capture and packet analysis, Cascade can tell if it is a network problem, an application problem, or in some cases a storage issue,” Shabe explains. “Cascade looks at the environment holistically. This is because it is the only network performance management solution that can combine network flow data and packet data into a single logical data store, and share information between the observation points.”
“Typically we had to set up tiger teams and subteams,….he adds. “With Cascade, resolution now takes less than a week, even for the type of random, intermittent problems that Wellfleet was experiencing”

Step 1: Root cause diagnosis and resolution
Easily isolate traffic of interest using drag-and-drop, multi-level drill-down and an extensive collection of network analysis views. Configure triggers and alerts to catch abnormal behavior.
Step 2: Go deep into the packets
Use Cascade Pilot software as a searchlight to help you identify issues when millions of packets need to be analyzed. Once identified, you can choose to send the selected traffic to Wireshark® directly through the Pilot UI for deeper individual packet inspection and decoding.
Step 3: Merge trace files to reveal network behavior
In some cases you’ll want to look at multiple trace files to track the root cause of a problem. Cascade Pilot software lets you merge and analyze multiple trace files at once, making it easier to pinpoint where problems are happening on the network.
Step 4: Analyze and present your results
The Cascade Pilot graphical user interface supports hundreds of Views and Charts for analyzing network traffic on local interfaces or trace files. Charts can be customized, saved, imported/exported in a variety of formats, and shared with colleagues. Chart data is also included as part of Cascade Pilot report generator. Customized reports can be automatically generated to show elements such as:
- Conversations (at any or all network layers)
- IP Fragmentation Analysis
- DHCP Address Assignments
- TCP Top Talkers
- Unicast vs. Multicast vs. Broadcast Traffic
