Dan Smoot was appointed President and CEO of Riverbed Technology in June 2021. Smoot brings more than 30 years of experience holding top leadership roles driving revenue growth and operations excellence at the top technology companies in the world. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer for Riverbed in September 2019, where he led the company’s Worldwide Sales, Channels and Alliances, Sales Operations and Customer Experience teams, He joined Riverbed in June 2018.
Smoot was previously Executive Vice President of Global Partner Sales at Salesforce, managing the Worldwide Partner Sales organization. He was also Executive Vice President of Market Readiness at Salesforce, where he created a global organization to deliver critical go-to-market operations. Prior to Salesforce, Smoot worked at VMware as Senior Vice President of Global Customer Operations, overseeing advanced technology sales, global services, renewals, global channels and alliances, OEM/ISV sales and go-to-mark strategy. Before VMware, he spent more than 12 years in a variety of senior leadership roles at Cisco.
Smoot holds a B.A. in Environmental Science from the University of California, Irvine.
Shaun Bierweiler is the Chief Revenue Officer at Riverbed Technology where he leads the company’s Worldwide Sales, Channels and Alliances, Professional Services, Sales Operations and Customer Experience teams. In this role, he is responsible for driving operational excellence across all facets of the customer journey, ensuring they receive outstanding value and performance from their technology investments. Bierweiler was previously Senior Vice President and General Manager of Public Sector at Riverbed where he led the cross-functional organization responsible for Riverbed’s largest global vertical. He joined Riverbed in October 2020.
Bierweiler has over 20 years of experience in the Information Technology industry, with a strong background in cloud computing, data, applications, and infrastructure solutions. Prior to joining Riverbed, Bierweiler served as President of Cloudera Government Solutions where he led the organization through its merger with Hortonworks and closely partnered with clients to address ‘big data’ challenges through optimized data access, enrichment, and empowerment with an enterprise data cloud. Prior to Cloudera, Bierweiler was President of Hortonworks Federal Inc. There he built and scaled the organization’s public sector channel program and partner ecosystem. Earlier in his career, Bierweiler held leadership positions at Red Hat and Raytheon, spanning roles across engineering, program management, business development, and corporate strategy.
Bierweiler holds an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland and B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida.
Gary Kohn is the Chief Financial Officer at Riverbed Technology and is responsible for all aspects of accounting, finance, tax, and treasury. Kohn has more than 30 years of executive experience serving both public and private global companies of varying sizes including two Fortune 500 companies. Kohn has driven value for stakeholders through his financial and strategic leadership and expertise in growing teams, optimizing capital structures, and managing transactions and transformations.
Kohn has gained his experience working across a variety of industries including payment and financial services, natural resources, lodging, and global information technology consulting and outsourcing. Previously, Kohn was CFO of Red Lions Hotel Corporation and Westmoreland Mining, and he led Investor Relations at First Data (now Fiserv) and Western Union, where he led a spin-off and IPO.
Leveraging his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Colorado, Kohn received his Certified Public Accountant license in 1989.
Jonaki Egenolf is the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Riverbed Technology and is responsible for the company’s global marketing strategy with responsibilities spanning corporate marketing and communications, digital marketing, product and solutions marketing, demand generation and campaigns, business development, marketing operations, and global field and channel marketing. Egenolf joined Aternity in March 2020 as CMO and expanded her role to include Riverbed in September 2021.
She has over 20 years of experience building and scaling go-to-market functions across demand, brand and strategy for high growth technology companies. Prior to Aternity, Egenolf spent more than a decade in the cybersecurity industry where she served as the CMO for Threat Stack, and VP of Global Marketing at Veracode, which was later acquired by CA Technologies. She has held marketing and sales leadership roles at several enterprise software, hardware and technology services companies including 3Com, TIAX LLC, Veritas Medicine and Kenan Systems.
Egenolf earned a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College.
Manny Blackner is Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Riverbed Technology. Blackner’s responsibilities include all worldwide HR and operations for employees in 28 countries, including recruiting, human resources business partner activities, diversity and inclusion, benefits and compensation, immigration, HR systems/shared services and learning development.
Blackner joined Riverbed in 2013, and previously led the Riverbed HR business partner, HRIS, HROPS and talent acquisition teams globally. He has a proven track record for attracting and retaining top talent, nurturing employees, championing career development and has a passion for diversity and inclusion. Prior to Riverbed, Blackner worked in retail sector supporting several national brands.
Blackner is a graduate of University of Maryland, College Park and also currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Arnold Foundation, a non-profit focused on making the world a better place by providing or improving education, economic, energy and health conditions for those in need.
Rebecca Hazard is General Counsel of Riverbed Technology as well as Corporate Secretary to the Riverbed Board of Directors. Hazard is responsible for all legal matters as well as trade compliance.
Previously, she served as Riverbed’s Vice President and Associate General Counsel, managing a global team of lawyers and legal professionals, responsible for commercial and technology transactions worldwide, including inbound and outbound licensing, channel sales agreements, privacy, outsourcing, OEM and intellectual property matters. In private practice, Hazard was an attorney at Kirkland & Ellis, LLP in the Technology & IP Transactions practice group where she focused on the acquisition, financing and sale of intellectual property and technology-focused businesses, including public and private acquisition and sale and licensing transactions.
Hazard holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College (cum laude) and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
