- Growing dependence of an optimally available infrastructure due to increasing digitalization
- More and better insight required into network performance problems
- Riverbed® SteelCentral™ NetExpress
- Riverbed® SteelHead™
- Saving sixty to seventy per cent in time in pinpointing causes of network performance problems
- Increased and improved insight into possible future problems thanks to high-quality analysis and predictive analytics
To the more than six hundred Dutch employees, a highly available and trustworthy network is the first priority to do their jobs well. “In our industry, digitalization is well on its way,” says Frank Keessen, IT Director at Mazars, in the Netherlands. “We’re on the right track for a paperless office.” In the Netherlands, Mazars built its own new digital platform for interaction with all of its customers.
The ten Dutch Mazars offices are connected to two active datacenters via an MPLS-WAN. In addition, the offices use a datacenter in France, which is where Mazars hosts an Oracle database. To achieve WAN acceleration, the company has been using Riverbed Steelhead appliances on the locations for a while.
To gain better insights into the network and its performances as well, Mazars looked for a solution for Network Performance Management (NPM).
On the advice of IP Knowledge, Riverbed partner and standard network provider of Mazars, they set up a Riverbed® SteelCentralTM NetExpress proof of concept (POC) at the accountancy organization. This NPM solution provides end-to-end network monitoring based on advanced analytics, dependency mapping and reporting. SteelCentral NetExpress collects and analyzes network traffic and is capable of quickly pinpointing the source of an issue.
“We were experiencing regular performance issues, and it was difficult to pinpoint the cause,” says Keessen. “We wanted to use the proof of concept to determine how an NPM solution could help us. It went very well and SteelCentral NetExpress managed to detect relevant issues in such a way that we were able to solve them efficiently and quickly. In addition, the solution is able to look ahead and has helped us find issues that could cause trouble in the future. This allowed us to take action before our users experienced disruptions and delays.”
After the successful POC, IP Knowledge implemented SteelCentral NetExpress at Mazars. Since then, detecting network issues has become much easier. “We’ve gained at least sixty to seventy per cent in time relating to root cause analysis activities”, says Keessen. “Before it could take days to identify a problem. Luckily, that’s all behind us now. Partly thanks to the intuitive interface. The solution is easy to understand and manage, which means saving even more time. Another advantage of NetExpress is its predictive feature. As the POC highlighted, NetExpress is capable of predicting possible future problems before users even notice them. Finally, the solution is fully compatible with the Riverbed® SteelHead TM appliances. This reduces the complexity of our infrastructure. We strive for as much standardization in our network as possible, and this solution enables us to realize that goal.”
