These demonstrations will include showcases on Granite™ edge virtual server infrastructure (edge-VSI), the Steelhead® appliance, and the Whitewater® cloud storage gateway appliance. Additionally, Jerome Noll, marketing director at Riverbed, will deliver a presentation highlighting how storage practitioners can modernize their storage and data protection architecture.
SAN FRANCISCO—September 24, 2012— Organizations worldwide are using Riverbed's broad suite of performance solutions that span wide area network (WAN) optimization, edge-VSI, application-aware network performance management (NPM), application delivery, web content optimization (WCO), and cloud data protection for backup and disaster recovery (DR). To overcome performance challenges associated with DR and business continuity, many organizations are deploying Steelhead products to accelerate DR making the process more efficient and reliable, as well as Whitewater cloud storage gateway appliances to enhance data protection, thereby improving their recovery time (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
To support customers that are restructuring their IT architecture to achieve complete consolidation, Riverbed introduced Granite. Edge-VSI, enabled by the Riverbed Granite appliance, allows organizations to consolidate and manage all edge servers in the data center. Edge-VSI extends centrally managed data to distributed end users, enabling IT to fully consolidate branch servers, applications, and storage to the data center, yet deliver services to the edge as if they were local. Riverbed will be showcasing Granite in its booth at Storage Decisions.

Supporting Quotes
"Granite edge virtual server infrastructure decouples storage from compute, allowing data to be completely consolidated in the data center yet presented to end-users and applications at the edge as if it were local. As a result, enterprises deliver uncompromised performance to workers in branch offices while IT organizations centrally manage, backup, provision, patch, expand, and protect data from the data center."
