Women continue to shape our workplaces, our communities, and our future. We asked leaders across Riverbed to reflect on their careers and success and share their advice. We hope you find their words inspiring.
“I am always inspired by the unique strengths and talents of my peers and team members; it’s not lost on me that our outcomes are driven by their knowledge, experience, and hard work. To foster these contributions, I try to build an environment of intentional collaboration by active listening, respectful communication and removing barriers. Witnessing the success of our peers and team members in this way we can celebrate their achievements and enjoy the strengthening of the team.”
“One of the philosophies that has guided me throughout my career is that every day is an investment in yourself. Everything we do—what we learn, what we build, the problems we solve, the relationships we develop—is an investment in our own capabilities. What inspires me most today is the opportunity to help people see possibilities in themselves that they might not yet see. Today, what motivates me most is paying that forward—creating opportunities, developing talent, and helping others unlock the capabilities that already exist within them.”
“I’ve learned that the most meaningful impact comes from giving time, trust and belief in others. I try to support people through mentorship, honest conversations and collaboration across teams, helping them build confidence in themselves. When we lift each other up, the results are always stronger.”
“Over the years, I’ve learned that being good at your job isn’t enough; you must be visible, understand the business impact of your work, and own your narrative before someone else writes it for you. Mindset matters more than where you start, and consistency will always beat short periods of intensity. Most importantly, your energy and the culture you help create can become a true strategic differentiator.”
“I always tried to establish trust and foster psychological safety within my teams, creating an environment where open communication and confidence can flourish. By embracing a coaching mindset, the team has clarity and can prioritize ongoing development, mentorship, and continuous learning, empowering every individual to reach their potential. Ultimately, a clear sense of purpose, shared accountability, and a spirit of collaboration unite teams and drive them toward collective success.”
“As a leader, I’ve learned that teams thrive when I lead by giving first my time, my trust, and my presence. Early in my career, I was fortunate to be mentored and shaped by leaders who gave me their time, their trust and the freedom to grow into the type of leader I am today. The strongest leaders model adaptability and curiosity, creating space for learning, empathy, and experimentation so teams remain resilient in the face of change. By grounding work in purpose and shared impact, they help individuals feel seen, valued, and connected, fueling engagement, accountability, and lasting performance.”
“Your voice matters more than you think it does. Early in my career, I sometimes waited until I felt 100% ready or 100% certain. Over time, I learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about asking better questions and being willing to speak when it counts. I encourage others, especially women, not to underestimate their influence. Preparation builds confidence, but courage builds impact.”
“Lifting other women up is so important; we are not in competition. Recognizing each other’s accomplishments leads to a stronger, empowered team.”
